My new wheel gun
Finally found a good deal on sp101 and just couldn't pass this one up.
It's a 357 sp101 DAO. Took it out to a range yesterday and was able to keep 5 inch group at 15 yards. Which is not that great but I'm ok with it for now. Doubletap 158gr is a lot to handle in this gun compared to my gp100 but still was manageable. here is some pictures. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/S6301534.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/S6301536.jpg I payed 325 for it, came with holster lighter wolf springs and night sight. |
Re: My new wheel gun
Solid piece...my recommendation for 357 snub.

Re: My new wheel gun
I would like to get me a revolver as well and This one looks awesome!!
I will do some reading up on this beast. T |
Re: My new wheel gun
That's a real beaut. Nice, comfortable looking grips too.

Re: My new wheel gun
Congrats as well! I have the exact same weapon with wooden grip inserts as yours. It's my absolute favorite revolver.:D
Take care, Mod1 I forgot to mention something. You might want to try a lighter weight round. |
Re: My new wheel gun
Great Job, those Ruger revolvers are rock solid. My Dad has one just like that but with a Houge grip he calls his ace in the hole. They bark like crazy but are very nice to shoot considering the size and the wallop they pack.:applause_

Re: My new wheel gun
Just an afterthought, block out the serial # when posting a gun pic.

Re: My new wheel gun
Congrats! :applause_ I have the exact same gun, wood inserts and all. I ordered the inserts off ebay a few years back. I just don't have night sights. They are solid guns.

Re: My new wheel gun
I love the stainless revolvers.
I have a S&W model 60 [stainless snub nose .38] that I bought new about 31 years ago. Polish it up with some stainless polish and you can't tell if it is one year old or 31. These guns will truly last a lifetime. |
Re: My new wheel gun
I have one too!!
Built like a tank. The weight helps the recoil be somewhat manageable. Practice with .38s. |

Good looking---I love the stainless steel revolvers. I wonder if the spring jobs make it that much better. Double action on my 4in Mountain gun finds me wandering around. E-A |

I spent ten years getting the guns I wanted, I spent the last ten years making them better. Its worth it. |
Re: My new wheel gun
electric-amish I should have mentioned that I was cheating LOL. Found the point on the trigger where you can fill hammer is just about to fall. So that kind of made it like a single action. But shooting it in rapid fire I was able to kip them all inside head size target at 7 yards.
MOD1 the Doubletap's 158 are HOT and I absolutely love them. Using that ammo and my 4 inch gp100 I was able to take a buck from about 40 yards. The exit hole was huge. Bullet went in kind of at the angle hitting the shoulder and one of the longs and exited at his side. Here is a picture of that hole. He was a small one, only 150 pounds. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...g03/box086.jpg After I killed that buck is when I started using DT 158gr and never looked back. Irons good call on the serial #'s, thanks. |

I have an old S&W-38 bodyguard and love that little snub. The recoil with Buffalo Bore " Speer Low Velocity uni-core 125 gr. Jacketed hollow cavity 921 fps" is nonexistent and it is awesome in that gun. |
